My ideal Job

Some have said that in order to get what you're looking for, you need a clear vision for it.

So that's what I'll do. My mom and I have tested out this theory before, and it worked. So here's hoping I'll strike gold a second time.

Basic Questions about Future Job:

Who: What kind of people do I want to work with or help?

I ideally want to work with people I can form a good connection with. Although I know it doesn't always work out this way, it would be great if we got along well and could even celebrate together after a job well done/ the completion of a project. I have always enjoyed group work and collaboration. I love being a member of a team with a collective vision. It allows everyone to bring their new ideas and unique perspectives to tackle the problem from every angle. You bring forward things the next person may not have thought of beforehand. Everyone knows what they need to strive towards so a collective goal helps to unify people. In a setup such as this, there's enough room to be responsible for your own part while playing a role to complete the bigger mission.

What: What kinds of duties and functions do I think are well-suited to my personality?

I think that I enjoyed my time at Delaire because there was an element of physical labor to it too-- adding into it the mix of poise and finesse that came with the fine-dining atmosphere. I enjoyed filling up and carrying heavy ice buckets, setting up the terrace for lunch, moving tables and creating something beautiful and orderly with my hands. I enjoyed studying new menus and learning and tasting wine that we had to incorporate. There was room to exercise the academic side of my brain as well as expressing creativity and imagination when I had to sell or communicate something to guests. Generally, even though it is somewhat daunting to speak to people I don't know, especially when they're in a position of wealth or power, it was a great opportunity for myself to higher my own personal standards and to imagine how to operate and communicate on that level. I am aware that these things in life don't mean anything; they especially do not mean happiness, I just mean, pushing myself to the level of excellence was usually the spin-off that I gained from situations like these.

Where: What type of place is my ideal work environment? (is this even a relevant question in the grander scheme of things?)

Maybe it is a relevant question...for now. Or only in the sense that, I hope it makes practical sense to where I would be living-- to obviously account for expenses. Once again, I'll bring up Delaire because the views were utterly spectacular and not only that, but the entire environment was kept in such a way to show that there really can still be places that maintain standards of quality and that strive for things to be beautiful and orderly. The people too were aligned and shared in this vision.

So, to answer my question more simply, I want to be in an inspiring place where I am closer to natural beauty and where the people too reflect that idea-- sincerely.

Why: What is the reason I'd be drawn to doing this kind of work?

If the job at hand is adding to the Good in the world, then I'd like to be a part of it. If it pushes me to grow personally, then it will feel right. There is also necessity for me at this stage; I know I may perhaps not live to have a thriving career because I have other more important goals, I do feel though that there is something unique that I can bring to the table and could make a positive and lasting contribution to whichever environment I enter.

When/ How Long? How does this fit into the picture I see for myself over the next few years?

Any reward, break or time off is most enjoyed after hard work and consistent goal-setting. I want to be part of a job/ team that has clear targets for the start and end date of projects. We need to know when we will be able to rest and when we can expect crunch time. I think both parts of the whole are very necessary and useful. I enjoy pressure because it can reveal new parts of ourselves to us and I enjoy downtime because it gives you the change in perspective to take a look at the bigger picture.

How much?: (Money $$)

Enough money to save up for bigger ideas and goals and not too much so that excess can spoil any hard work.

To end off...

Obviously I have some ideas in my mind about what I think my ideal job would look like... but it has been known about humans that we don't always know exactly what it is that we need. I want to be open, but I do realize that it also can't work if I stay too open and never choose a path to commit to. You need to pick something and run with it. I hope I can look back on this list not too long from now and smile, knowing that I got something close (if not, spot on!) to what I Asked for here. And I hope to be flabbergasted about how differently it turned out compared to the idea that I had in my head.

I write this sincerely, hoping and having faith in the best.
